Man, it was so close. And now the national media is questioning why Curry didn't take the shot instead of passing it to Richards. Guys, the one thing you should have learned about Curry after watching him is that if he doesn't feel comfortable taking a shot, he's probably right.
This was an amazing run and the Wildcats deserve every accolade possible. It's too bad Curry won't be up for MOP. I think if they had beaten Kansas, he would have been a serious contender even if Davidson didn't advance any further. I think a case can be made that he's been the most outstanding player anyway, but the award has always confused "outstanding player of the tournament" with "biggest player on the winning team".

F is for Flood
Oddly enough, my F post for the 2006 version of the ABC-along had the same title.
Remember the flood zone picture I posted a few weeks ago? (Yeah, I know D is for Deluge and F is for flood are pretty much the same, but I have more F's in the post!)
The water was over the park when I came home (7 inches of rain in one day), but had receded a bit by the time I was able to get back out and take a picture. Yes, this is the picture where it's not threatening to go over the road. People who live at that end of the block have to have flood insurance. Up the block there is a huge hill - I live on top of that hill and my yard was a complete swamp with standing water!

F is for Feet and Fun
In the Loopy Groupies forum on Ravelry, we had a hilarious thread on hitting F5 for the recent Wollmeise sneakup. I totally missed the sneakup because I was on the phone with my mom and, when I refreshed and snuck a couple of skeins in my cart, they jumped right out again. However, I had post 1500, for which Sheri awarded a special prize. A much-coveted skein of Wollmeise in Wilder Mohn - one of the two colors I wanted! Sheri is fabulous!

The weatherman is getting a workout
Last Sunday, it was in the high 70s.
Monday, it rained all day and then we had a bit of snow that night.
Tuesday, it was in the 50s.
Wednesday, 70s.
Thursday, dropped to 30 and iced and snowed.
Today, yeah - 58.
Is it any wonder that everyone is sick all winter? I can take cold or hot, but both in one week - not once but twice? Yeah, let's move on to summer already.

E is for Experiment
A couple of years ago, my favorite LYS had a selection of yarns from Lonesome Stone. Gorgeous, gorgeous wools and mohairs and loopy yarns in really fabulous colors. Pricey, but then there was a sale. So, I bought some of this and some of that.
Here are two skeins of wool/mohair Frasier Flats and one skein of Baby Kid Mohair in the colorway Old Blue Eyes.
I bought them with a vest in mind. The body would be the wool/mohair blend and the edgings would all be two layers of mohair.
Obviously, it never happened.
Then, Wendy posted about the Agatha shawl. I really love the pattern and had one of those moments where you want to castonimmediatelynowwhichyarncanI use.
I have a few options, but it would mean breaking up a sweater quantity of wool. Then, I remembered the Lonesome Stone. I have 650yds of the wool/mohair worsted weight and 200 yds of the mohair. The plan is to use the worsted until I complete the body and then punt. I do not think I have enough worsted to complete the shawl. The pattern used a 218 yd skein of DK for the edging, so I figure my 200 yds of heavy laceweight mohair should do the trick. If not, I'll just leave out one repeat on the edging. I think a heavy shawl with a floaty border will be sort of pretty.
Any opinions? I'd love to hear if you think my experiment will work or if you think my hypothesis is all wet! I need reassurance!

D is for deluge
We live up the hill from a floodplain. The houses at the bottom of the hill are required to have flood insurance. I've only seen the water come up over the berm once, but Sunday was certainly thinking about it.
I'll post a pic of what it normally looks like tomorrow, once the water really recedes.
The best part of today
The best part of today is not the glorious sunny weather and wide blue sky (because it's still muddy from the downpour Sunday and Monday and I have to bucket the dog* any time she comes in the house).
The best part of today is not that the in-laws went home (because, of course, everyone is delighted to have houseguests for five days when they and their child have strep throat).
The best part of today is that it was Cleaning Day and the guy who cleans my house twice a month came and my house is lovely and empty and CLEAN and I didn't have to help!
*Bucketing the dog is the process that occurs when you have any type of hunting or herding dog with big ole paws that harbor extra mud. You have to fill an old mop bucket with warm water (because cold water doesn't work as well and who wants to put their paws in a big bucket of cold water?) and then bodily wrangle the dog paws into the bucket for a soak and then rub them while still in the water to get all the damn dirt off the paws and out from around the nails and all because as much of a pain as it is to bucket the dog, it's more of a pain to clean the carpet and mop the floor.
